Privacy Policy for Platero POS App
Platero Mobile Ecosystem • Merchant POS App Privacy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy governs the use of the Platero Point-of-Sale Mobile Application ("platero-pos"). Platero provides a merchant platform to accept employee meal benefits, process payouts, and manage transaction history. We are committed to protecting your commercial and personal data in accordance with applicable financial regulations and GDPR rules.
2. Data We Collect
To facilitate secure point-of-sale checkout and banking settlements, we collect and process the following categories of data:
Merchant & Account Pairing
We do not collect or request merchant business details or banking information within the POS app. The app only pairs itself to an existing merchant profile using a pairing token.
POS Terminal Location
We request foreground location permissions to verify that the POS terminal is located at the registered business address during checkout. This location is cross-referenced in real-time with the employee's device location to prevent fraud.
Camera & Scanning Access
Camera access is required only once on the setup screen to scan the registration QR code to pair the app with your merchant profile.
Scope of Data Processing
The POS app does not collect, input, or add any merchant or customer personal data. It is strictly used to generate payment intents, display transaction logs local to this paired device, and submit refund requests.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your device and transaction data is used to verify terminal authorization, generate payment intents, detect transaction fraud using location checking, display transaction history local to this device, and submit refund requests.
4. Data Sharing & Disclosures
Transaction summaries (merchant name, amount, date) are shared with the employee's employer for benefit audits and tax compliance. Terminal device geolocations and pairing logs are strictly kept confidential and are never shared with employers, employees, or third-party marketing brokers.
5. Data Security & Retention
We use industry-standard encryption and secure authentication tokens to authorize terminal devices. Transactions are verified in real time to prevent unauthorized access. Business data and financial ledgers are retained in accordance with statutory accounting and anti-money laundering (AML) laws.
6. Merchant Rights
Store owners can manage terminal settings, revoke paired devices, view transaction ledgers, or request refunds through the merchant dashboard or app. Geolocation and camera permissions can be managed on the device, though disabling location will prevent accepting Platero payments.
